How to remove /category from your category URL in Wordpress
There are many plugins available to remove the word ‘category’ from your URLs, but you don’t need to add yet another plugin to do this – it’s easy to set it up in Wordpress’ settings once you know how.
Go to Settings > Permalinks.
Choose Custom Structure and enter /%category%/%postname%/
Then scroll down to Category base and enter a single dot: .
That’s it! Your category URLs now change from example.com/category/news to just example.com/news
